The Rockies have become a year-round playground, and new listings are coming on every day.
- Reasons to look for your Rocky Mountain dream home today: Prices will continue to rise. CoreLogic's latest Home Price Index reports that home prices have appreciated by 6.3% over the last 12 months. The same report predicts that prices will continue to increase at a rate of 5.2% over the next year. The bottom in home prices has come and gone. Home values will continue to appreciate for years. Waiting no longer makes sense.
- Mortgage rates are projected to go up. The latest employment report showed hourly earnings were up 2.9% over last year, the highest since 2009. This, coupled with manufacturers expecting increasing costs, indicates inflation is coming. This worry will be putting upward pressure on mortgage rates; we are up almost half a percent, and some predict another .5% by summer.
- Our inventory is at historic lows. With fewer than 400 active listings in Summit County, odds are your dream will be on and off the market before you know it. You need to be looking to jump as soon as the opportunity arrives.
- Is It Time to Move on with Your Life? If you have made the decision that buying a mountain home is the right thing, then now could not be a better time. Don't worry, as these days it is often 60 days to close, so moving in will occur as the weather warms. It's going to be a great summer in the high country; be ready to have fun when it arrives.
